ASPRS Colloquium:
We sponsor a Speaker Colloquium each term featuring speakers from industry and academia. One goal of the Colloquia is to enhance professional development of undergraduate and graduate students in geography and related disciplines. Our mission is to develop partnerships between the industry and the geography students to facilitate research and technology skills.

Scholarships:
We provide various scholarships to engage our members in geospatial technology related activities. Please see our Membership Info page for further information.

Our parent organization holds a yearly meeting and dinner event. Here are a couple photos from the 2008 meeting

Services:
Through the Center for Spatial Analysis and Research (CSAR), GIS and cartography students are available to assist industry projects that require photogrammetry and remote sensing expertise.

Internships:
Most students work as interns sometime during their time at PSU.  Some of the internships held have been with local city and county governments, federal agencies, and non profits. A sampling of recent internships have been served at the cities of: Beaverton, Gresham, Portland, Vancouver, Wilsonville, Washington and Clark counties; and Metro.   Federal internships have included the U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Soil Conservation Service, NOAA, and Americorps.  Local business such as Space Imaging, BPA, PGE, EcoTrust, and many others have offered interships providing valuable hands-on experience for students and quality, affordable research and mapping services for industry.

Software:
In addition to routine office processing software, our labs feature GIS, remote sensing and photogrammetry suites: ESRI ArcGIS 9.x, Intergraph Geomedia, Idrisi Killimanjaro, ERDAS Imagine, Surfer, Terra Sync, Pathfinder Office for Trimble GeoExplorer XT GPS; graphics software to enhance cartography: Corel Draw, In Design; and ecological and statistics packages: Fragstats, SPSS, Stata, and SPlus.
